Lady Luella

How we love our lady Luella Elizabeth Dalton!

Our little egg hatched just in time for spring on 4.17.2023 at 02:34 pm. She weighed all of 7 lbs 1 oz, and measured 20 inches. As you can see, both Mom and Luella are doing wonderfully.

It’s hard to put into words the large spectrum of emotions that surface during pregnancy, through delivery, and after coming home with a new family member.

First of all, we are so grateful to have become pregnant, again! It’s no secret that we battled infertility for years. So many of you thoughtfully contributed donations to our #TeamBabyDalton cause that made it financially possible to seek IVF treatment, which finally gave us our first miracle baby Eddie, and now a second — precious Luella! Thank you for supporting our ultimate dream to grow a family.

Also, thank you to the extremely knowledgeable doctors and staff Utah Fertility Center. They have been wonderful to work with throughout the daunting IVF treatment process.

Then there is our remarkable OBGYN Dr. Watts, who delivered Eddie and started caring for Sarah and Luella before a tragic spinal cord injury. Even though he could not continue practicing, his recovery story has been an inspiration to us of God’s goodness. We adore him, and send his sweet family our love and prayers as he continues to improve.

Thank you to his many friends at St. Mark’s Hospital who filled his big companionate shoes and continued caring for us. Dr. Johnson and the labor and delivery staff were so nice. Healthcare workers are saints.

It would be difficult to overstate how graceful and positive Sarah was from the first of those seemingly endless IVF shots, all the way through childbirth. She is the real MVP here.

There are a very limited number of things that anyone can do to help through the long, involved process of maternity. Sarah always managed to find the beauty of it, while I helplessly worried until hearing that first angelic cry of life.

Luella has quickly shown us the heart’s immense capacity to expand and love without limits. Eddie has adjusted to her arrival with less skepticism than we expected. He is helping hold her and take her dirty diapers to the trash in his toy trucks — which he also desperately wishes she would play with.

We are all so grateful Luella is here, and deeply appreciate everyone who helped us along the way!
